Day 47

Well, I woke a bit tired this morning - that's what happens when you start reading a good book! (and which is why I try to remember not to start a book until Friday ...). Sigh.

Food

Breakfast

egg scrambled with roasted red pepper and paprika
chapati pizza with avocado, zucchini, and arugula
milk

mid-morning snack

egg white

Lunch

steamed broccoli rabe with tomato sauce and clams
arugula, avocado, and red pepper on rye

mid-afternoon snack

yogurt

Dinner

apple.
banana.
egg white
milk

so boring!!!!!!!!

Evening Snack

fruit salad and yogurt (you know, I'm going through milk at an unprecedented rate with all this yogurt making - it's almost like I'm a normal American family!)

Exercise

Got up and did my PCP even feeling tired - which gave me some energy until about mid-afternoon ... A little sore everywhere ...

  2. Wait. Did you say you are making your own yogurt? How do you do that?

  3. Amazing how you can be dead tired, do a strenuous workout, and feel more energy than before you started. That's why you're not like an ATM!

  4. Well, I have a yogurt maker (not necessary, but it keeps out the guesswork and comes with individual containers).

    1. Scald milk (so any organisms that might interfere with the yogurt culture are killed)

    2. let milk cool (so your yogurt culture isn't killed)

    3. add yogurt culture (can buy on-line, or use a purchase yogurt with a live culture, or some of your previous batch) - if using non-fat milk, I sometimes at dried non-fat milk to help with the consistency

    4. let incubate at ~110F

    5. wait until set (overnight, usually)

An indian friend makes hers in her oven, but I didn't have a lot of luck so bought a yogurt maker.
